The Presbytery of North Puget Sound

Member of Mountain View PC makes new friends in Diagle, SenegalIn Africa thirst, both physical and spiritual, is very real. In pursuit of the desire to know God’s will and direction, the Presbytery of North Puget Sound’s Mountain View Church in Marysville sent a team to Senegal, West Africa. The team’s goal was to find a group of people who were open to and thirsty for the Holy Spirit. After meeting with several villages, the team was introduced to the village of Diagle. The team found the people of Diagle both open and eager to hear from their new friends, who quickly realized that God had been at work in Diagle long before this meeting.

Led by the Holy Spirit, Mountain View decided to follow what was clearly a calling from God to commit to a long-term relationship with the village of Diagle. This decision was made with an understanding that the privilege of sharing Christ with someone only comes after earning the right to be heard. The people of Diagle are members of the Wolof tribe, and in the Wolof culture the message is always tied to the messenger. To share a message of significance requires a strong relationship. Mountain View’s long-term goal for this mission is to see a thriving church in Diagle made up of Wolof believers who can spread the living water of hope and quench the thirst of their people. Mountain View will be working in cooperation with several full-time missionaries, building on the work they have done. With God’s guidance, living water will flow in Diagle.

There are 35 churches and 1 worshiping fellowship serving 7,521 members in the Presbytery of North Puget Sound. Tall Timber Ranch and Presbyterian-related Renewal Ministries Northwest, Tierra Nueva, and Eagle Wings disAbility Ministries are within the presbytery’s bounds.
